Bro. Stanley Clinkscale Enters S.C.S.U. Athletic Hall of Fame

On Friday, September 7, 2012, Bro. Stanley B. Clinkscale, along with other members of South Carolina State University’s 1976 National Black Championship football team, was inducted into the South Carolina State University Athletic Hall of Fame.  Bro. Clinkscale was a starting defensive back.  The Bulldogs posted an impressive record (10-1-0 overall, 5-1-0 in the MEAC), captured the Bicentennial Bowl by defeating the Norfolk State University Spartans, and produced two (2) All-Americans and ten (10) All-MEAC selections.

The team finished the season at the top of the Mutual Black Network and JET Polls and was ranked high in the NAIA and NCAA Division II Polls, leading the nation in the latter polls in every defensive category.

Head Coach Willie Jeffries (Alpha Lambda ’59) was named the 1976 South Carolina Coach of the Year, as well as the 1976 MEAC Coach of the Year.

Bro. Clinkscale was also a member of the South Carolina State Bulldog track team.
